Admission Requirements

ELIGIBILITY: In order to assess whether your previous background is suitable for our programme, we have created a self-assessement test online. We strongly recommend that you go through it prior to applying. All details are under the header "Self-Assessment" on this website.

We also recommend that you download the list of  Engineering Prerequisites for ICE and go through it carefully and precisely so that you can have a good idea of our requirements.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: The admission to the Master programme „Information and Communications Engineering (ICE)“ can be granted, if the following admission requirements are met:
- A first University degree (Bachelor degree, German Diplom or a comparable academic degree) of an   accredited University with qualifications equivalent to a score of at least 210 credit points according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Information and Communications Engineering, Information Technology or in other related subject areas, with a mark no lower than ‘good’ (i.e. grade B; in Germany: at least 2.5).
- High School leaving certificate (A-Levels, German Abitur or comparable document).

- English: Proficient user according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (i.e. TOEFL examination: at least 550 paper-based, 215 computer-based; 80 iBT or Cambridge First Certificate grade B; IELTS score of at least 6.0).

- German: Basic knowledge of German for all international students (at least Level A1 - according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages / Goethe-Institut , i.e. the successful completion of the German examination for Level A1 or equivalent accredited examinations).
