After Admission

There are no tuitions fees (Studienbeiträge) for our master programme “Information and Communications Engineering (starting in the winter semester 2008/09).
The only amount due every semester is an enrolment / registration fee. This is the case in every university in Germany (approx. EUR 215,- per semester).

Cost of living:
To have an idea of the cost of living here in Germany we recommend that you read all details available on the DAAD Webseite. When applying for a visa you need to prove that you have at least EUR 640,- per month available to you (please check the exact amount with the German Consulate nearest to you). This amount gives you an idea of the average level of expenses. This amount may vary according to individual budgeting.
Renting a room will cost approx. EUR 200,- / month.

Students who are motivated and qualified are able to find small jobs within or outside the university. With a student’s visa and residence permit you are allowed to work 90 days / year. If you do an internship at the end of the summer semester (4 to 12 weeks) you may be able to negotiate some form of remuneration. Nevertheless we would like to give you the honest feedback that it is not realistic to plan to support yourself during your stay. Our programme lasts only 3 semesters. It is really very important to be able to fully concentrate on your studies. You will need all your energy to adjust to the new surroundings and to the Master Programme.

Support:
In order to help you to help you plan your stay and settle quickly we propose to help you in the following areas:

• Booking of a room in one of the Halls of Residences
• Providing support for the opening a bank account
• Supporting you regarding all official papers (e.g. Residence Permit, Health Insurance, enrolment)
• Organising and coordinating social events and excursions. (e.g. Last year we spent one day in the area of Rüdesheim (Rhine), the year before in Heidelberg. We also visited Companies such as Alcatel in Stuttgart. The department of electrical engineering sponsors most excursions and activities)
